In 2013, we ramped up our efforts to get Indaba members music licensed with the launch of Indaba Sync. As a dedicated platform for showcasing the best songs from Indaba Music, over the past year we’ve made hundreds of placements in film, TV, advertisement, and game projects, for clients such as Microsoft, Maybelline, Stylecore, Sonos, GDW, OnStar, and various film projects, earning over $40,000 for our members.
This year, we are aiming to become the premier destination for licensing new songs by emerging artists. Each month, we will launch genre specific contests targeting different types of original music. Out of those submissions, we’ll select of the most licensable new songs to send out to our growing network of music supervisors and licensors. Indaba will take an active role in helping to develop and push the artists we choose for Indaba Sync, by offering these artists special opportunities for their music: including the ability to record at Indaba’s YouTube channel Suite 268 and the opportunity to have their song remixed by the Indaba community.
What you need to know:
• We are looking for fresh, fully finished original sounding songs (ie. not background or production music).
• You will retain 100% of the rights to your music, Indaba will act as a non-exclusive licensing agent on your behalf. Any revenue generated by Indaba will be split 50/50 with the artist.
• You must own or control 100% of the masters and publishing rights to your song.
