Playing for Change started this track in West Africa with a musical group named Tinariwen. They asked Tinariwen to play a groove in the key of G and as they traveled the world, they added more musicians to the song. Over the course of their travels, it transformed into a global jam with its roots in the blues. Want to know how you can be a part of it? Join our Play for Change Opportunity! There’s even a $1000 Grand Prize involved.
To celebrate the release of PFC 2: Songs Around the World, Hear Music/Concord Music Group wants you to rework the track “Groove In G”. Your submission should incorporate key elements of the track and really capture the essence of the Playing For Change movement while offering a unique and compelling twist to the music.
Filming and recording dozens of musicians from around the world, Grammy award winning filmmaker, producer and PFC founder Mark Johnson set out to capture stunning musical collaborations that seamlessly and beautifully blend diverse styles of music. Playing For Change, now forging into it’s second release, is a continuing source of worldwide collaboration.
Good luck, Indabans! We can’t wait to see what you do.
